Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) is a DoD Field Activity responsible for the oversight of two school systems, the Department of Defense Dependents Schools (DoDDS) and the Department of Defense Domestic Dependent Elementary & Secondary Schools (DDESS). DoDEA employs more than 12,000 individuals responsible for educating approximately 90,000 students in 12 foreign countries, seven states, Guam, and Puerto Rico. The mission of DoDEA is to provide a quality education from pre-kindergarten through grade twelve for the eligible minor family members of DoD military and civilian personnel on official assignments.

This position is in the excepted service.
The Assistant Principal position at Sullivans ES is only authorized through the 2008-09 school year. Accordingly, individual selected for this position will be promoted NTE July 31, 2009. The selectee will then be returned back to an educator position.
Payment of travel and transportation expenses is not authorized.
Duties and Responsibilities: Serves as the assistant principal to monitor the delivery and evaluation of the education program and manage the facilities, personnel matters, and logistical support for a school.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: A Master’s degree in educational administration or a Master’s degree inclusive of 20 semester hours of graduate credit in school administration, curriculum development, and supervision of instruction (or similar supervision related coursework).
GENERAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A minimum of three years of successful classroom teaching, specialist, or other professional educator experience at any level is required.
Applicants must meet minimum qualification standards for course work by the time the application is submitted. Teaching/administrator experience requirements must be met by the end of SY 2007-08.

PAY, BENEFITS AND WORK SCHEDULE:
Government/Military housing, Living Quarters Allowance, Post Allowance, and other overseas benefits may be authorized. Eligibility will be determined at time of position offer. Medical Care: Applicants who have family members with special medical needs should ensure that prior to accepting a position overseas their family members' medical needs can be met. Access to care in a military treatment facility may not be available to civilian employees except on a space available basis. Special Education Services: The Department of Defense Dependents Schools (DoDDS) provides education including special education to children of DoD civilians who are eligible to attend DoDDS schools.
