| Sun 35 |
SUN THIRTY-FIVE, the Journal of Self-expression, is a collection of literary works, photography, and visual art work. The publication presents the accomplishments of both students and staff from the Department of Defense Dependents Schools, located in Japan, Korea, Okinawa, and the Domestic Dependents Elementary and Secondary Schools located in Guam.
The following are samples taken from this edition.

|
"The artwork and literature contained in the 35th edition of our SUN publication demonstrates the unique talents
and abilities of our students. From kindergarten through high school the examples captured in these pages serve
as an inspiration to everyone.
The common thread that is woven into this tapestry of self expression is a creative
spirit. It
is this
spirit that enhances our lives, calls us to action, incites innovation, and enriches our hearts and souls." |

Only Time Will Tell
Why must we go through this pain?
Running through the tragic storm
Trying to escape the rain
Drenched in our problems
Looking for a solution
Looking for a way out
Is there a resolution?
Yes beyond reasonable doubt
Only time will tell
Lightning striking
Whirlwinds blowing
The best is yet to come
We should keep going
The present may not be pleasant
But change is here
Change is near
Only time will tell
Prices are rising
Stocks are falling
Hitting us from all directions
Each day is calling
Engulfed in this storm
Black and grey over our heads
But as each day goes by
The light will tear our fears to shreds
And because light is here
Change is here
Things will get well
And only time will tell

Ode to Sunsets
Day’s closer is a sunset.
Heaven’s angels paint the darkening sky
With fine, graceful strokes of watercolors,
And a euphoria of dyes;
Powdery pink roams the cotton candy middle
While plumes of skittish gold and silver
Stand on the edges.
The billowing clouds are almost drawn to the
Bright burning sun as it descends slowly downward,
Smaller and smaller.
The remaining sky is left with only miniscule
Tints of its original subtle, milky blue
As tranquility bombards the air.
Hazy orange blooms around the intense,
Glowing orb as it falls
Over the edge of the earth,
Sad and solemn.
The day ends with many whispers of beauty.
