A Message from the Director: Combined Federal Campaign
|
Over the past year we have witnessed the men and women from our military communities, and often the parents of the children we serve, deploy to various locations throughout the world in defense of the liberties and freedoms we cherish as Americans. These deployed individuals have left behind their children who attend our schools and their spouses who frequently volun tee r in our schools. We are grateful for their service and recognize the hardships this can sometimes bring to their family and community.
The Combined Federal Campaign-Overseas (CFC-O) is an opportunity for U.S. Government personnel serving overseas, both service members and civilians, to help those suffering hardship or need by contributing to worthy charities. Public servants may make not only monetary contributions to the campaign, but may also assume leadership roles to ensure its success.
Last year, the CFC raised almost $250 million with $13 million coming from bases and installations overseas. This was a result of the generosity of thousands of military and civilian contributors. In past campaigns, educators and administrators from DoDDS-Pacific/DDESS-Guam have also been very generous.
The CFC-O provides us with the opportunity to assist people and programs, as well as to personalize contributions by designating one or more of the 1400 national and international organizations, agencies, and federations. Contributions can be in cash, check, or by payroll deduction. The 2004-2005 CFC-O begins on October 1 and runs through December 15. I encourage each of you to consider contributing to these worthwhile causes.
Nancy
C. Bresell
Director, DoDDS-Pacific/DDESS-Guam
