Teachers are the inspiration
behind instruction. No one does more important work than
teachers, and no one does it better. As a grade school
child once wrote in a letter to her beloved teacher, I
hope you wont forget me, because I will never forget
you. Teachers touch hearts and transform lives every
day. Throughout the years, teachers have been the ones
who give mankind the opportunity to improve tomorrow.
Teacher Appreciation Week,
May 4-10, 2003, gives each of us a special reminder to
take time to thank our teachers for their dedicated service,
endless contributions, and tireless efforts in teaching
our children. The responsibilities placed upon schools
have increased significantly over the last six decades,
and teachers have heroically responded to the rising flood
of expectations. They are worthy of our respect and admiration,
and they are deeply deserving of our appreciation.
On May 7, 2003, National
Teacher Day, I would like all of us to reflect on the
outstanding contributions teachers have made to ensure
the achievement of our students. Teachers are at the very
core of our mission to prepare all students for success
in a global environment. Teachers are also at the center
of our nations education agenda to ensure that no
child is left behind. Much of the success of the
Department of Defense Dependents Schools (DoDDS) Pacific
can be attributed to the extraordinary work of teachers.
All of us in the DoDDS Pacific
community know how exceptional you are, and how fortunate
we are to have you. On this special day, I extend to you
a heartfelt thank you for your never-ending
contributions to education and to our nations bright
future.
Nancy C. Bresell
Director, DoDDS Pacific
