The Far East Journalism Conference was hosted by Kadena High School, Okinawa, Japan, 23-25 October, 2006. All twelve DODDS-Pacific/DDESS-Guam high schools participated. One hundred and twenty students had the opportunity to attend sessions dealing with yearbook layout, photo tips, ethics in journalism, and “writing the hard news.”  Several field trips were scheduled for the students to the Botanical Gardens, Churaumi Aquarium, and Peace Prayer Park. Individuals were selected as the best in categories ranging from sports writing to editorial writing to digital photography. The top school yearbooks and newspapers were also recognized with awards.  Kinnick HS will host this event next year.
