2002 Communications & Public Relations Conference
|
Goal
4 of the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) Community
Strategic Plan (CSP) states, "All
levels of the organization will develop and implement a multimedia
communication plan to enhance dialogue and promote trust among
staff, parents, students, and the community." From
September 2427,
2002, forty-three
Department of Defense Dependents Schools (DoDDS) Pacific school
and district communications representatives spent 3.5 days undergoing
professional development in school communications and public
relations.
|
|
|
The purpose of the conference was to provide participants with
a practical foundation for understanding how to gather, produce,
and distribute newsworthy and noteworthy information and products
to the media and to a variety of shareholders within their local
school communities.
|
|
Each school
and district DoDDS communication POC ensures that information
and products about the goals and activities of the school are
provided to the media through a multimedia approach.
Representatives
from the media, including Stars and Stripes; AFN Pacific
Report; 374th Airlift Wing base publication, Fuji Flyer,
Yokota Air Base; and Public Affairs Office, Commander, Fleet
Activities, Yokosuka, participated in the conference. In
addition the Yokota Dependent School Liaison, Yokota Air
Base and the Army School Liaison Officer, Camp Zama provided
briefings.
