The adoption of the United States Department of Education’s (DOE) Career Clusters and Career Pathways has been the foundation for the organizational pattern of our DoDEA Professional Technical Studies (PTS) courses. The DOE Career Pathways identify a trail for high school students to follow in their pursuit of further education at a two or four year college, technical school, apprenticeship program, or on-the-job at the workplace. DoDEA has adopted a number of the DOE Career Pathways and structured PTS program areas and courses into PTS Pathways to help students in their pursuit.
A DoDEA Pacific high school student with an interest in computers could study a number of PTS courses in the Network Systems pathway. These courses were selected and designed to build knowledge and skills in areas related to information technology. As a result of this student’s study within the pathway, the student may have reached a greater level of personal understanding and adjusted his or her goals to include college programs and courses to reach into areas of information technology not previously considered. Students completing the necessary courses within a pathway will receive an endorsement on their transcript reflecting their in-depth study in that pathway.
DoDEA Pacific high schools offer a number of PTS Pathways for students to pursue as an in-depth area of study. Information regarding the offering of an in-depth experience of course offerings through a PTS Pathway can be obtained by contacting the principal of a specific high school, or visiting that school’s website. General information regarding DoDEA Career Clusters and PTS Pathways can be found by visiting the DoDEA website.
Although each of our DoDEA Pacific high schools offer a number of pathways, not all of the pathways are available in our DoDEA Pacific high schools. Identified below is a current list of DoDEA PTS Pathways.
